Huh?

"What is this kid talking about, Ma?"

Mini Chefs

In an effort to avoid boredom, we decided to make apple pie yesterday (or should I say we made a mess with apple pie on the side). Here are some pictures of my little chefs.

This was right after she knocked over the paper towels and bag of sugar.

I gave him a little extra flour to stay occupied.

Pretty Girl

"Does this outfit make my butt look big, Ma?"

A New Way to Play

He makes up stories of what to do with random stuff and enjoys lining them up on display to tell me about each one. Whatever happened to playing with toys??

Papa and Memaw Visit

Over President's Day weekend, we had the pleasure of welcoming Papa and Memaw Ober to Wisconsin for a wonderful visit and help with a few DIY projects around the house. Early Friday, they started demolishing the upstairs bathtub and in only a couple days had installed a brand new tub and surround. Unfortunately, we were hit with another snowstorm Sunday, but managed to venture out to the local bowling alley for a little fun. Max stepped right up to the lanes and got busy. He even got a strike! His score was only a few points lower than Mommys. We said our goodbyes early Monday morning and went back to our weekly routine as normal.

All he wanted to do was help the big guys.

A disaster zone for only a few hours. Updated photos to come.

A happy place with Papa and Memaw.

He didn't need any help. Maybe he'll need a custom ball one of these days!

Morning Routine

His yogurt, juice box and magazine. Our 2 yr old is quickly becoming an old man!

Mmm, what is Oscar the Orangutan up to today?

Thanks, Aunt Dede for the magazine subscription! It's monthly arrival is always exciting for him.

Violet vs. Sophie the Giraffe

I'd say Violet was victorious.

I Make Viley Laugh

The other day I was cleaning up the kitchen when I hear Violet laughing hysterically. I go in and see Max playing peek-a-boo with her and she's cracking up. It was the cutest thing watching them together. I run to get my camera and of course as soon as I hit record, she stops her belly laughing. But, here's what I caught on tape.

Now if only Max could play this nice with Violet every day!

Trip Home

Violet and me took a trip home for Rosie's baby shower this weekend. Violet was a perfect angel the whole time and even took a little nap while snuggled in a sling. We left late morning on Sunday to get home in time to root for the Packers (our adopted football team).

"Knock knock, it's me, Violet. Your mom is pretty cool"

Nani insisted! And we couldn't help ourselves.

Grandpa feeding Violet some bananas.

Leo came to visit us early on Sunday for breakfast before we left. It's the cutest thing to watch him scoot around!

Violet 6 Month Update

Since I'm really bad at keeping up with her baby book, I wanted to post Violet's 6 month stats:

Weight - 15 lbs, 6 oz.
Height - 27"

Our new pediatrician is great. He was very friendly, laid back and calm even when Max was bouncing off the walls. He diagnosed a healthy 6 month old who has several teeth popping out!

Snow

Two kids helping Nick with the driveway - we're still the only yahoo's on the block without a snowblower!

Max trying his had at helping. Not two minutes later, did I hear crying at the back door. "The shovel won't work!" - maybe cause he was using a broom :)

Nick digging his way out while Max watches from the kitchen.

6 Months Old

Today, on Groundhog Day and the day we saw the most snow in our lifetime, Violet turned 6 months old. Here's a recap of her current happenings.

Violet still loves to nurse most of the day with frequent marathons (I assume due to itchy gums or a growth spurt). Yet with high hopes, she's taken a bottle a couple times in the past few days. She's eating a little more fruits, vegetables and cereal even though about half of it ends up down her throat. She grabs the spoon, forces it into her mouth and then usually drools it back out. Quite a mess each time.

You can catch her smile from across the room and she laughs with her whole body. She loves to watch Max run circles around her and oddly enjoys it when he yells in her face. She's starting to sit upright a little more steadily and play (or eat) just about anything you give her. She's a pro at pulling out every last tissue in a kleenex box and has unwound a roll of paper towels. She has quickly figured out how to maneveur herself to reach any toy and rolls to wherever she wants to go.

Sleeping is still very inconsistent. About 4 or 5 days in a row, she'll sleep until 4:30am and the other two nights she'll wake a couple times. My saving grace is once she does wake up to feed, she'll typically sleep in until 8:00am. During the day, she naps three times with two being short, cap naps. My biggest hurdle is keeping Max entertained while I try to get her to sleep peacefully.

Violet is a joy to watch each day and I have to remind myself that time flies too fast. Happy 6 month birthday, baby girl!

Maybe it's time for some "girly" toys

Preschool Bound

Today, we visited the preschool where Max will be attending in September. The teachers were extremely nice and Max seems to be thrilled about the idea as I had to drag him out of the class to leave this morning. I have a feeling it will be harder on me! Good thing the school is only a few blocks away from our house since I'll be the mom peering in the window watching!
