Home Improvements

Back in September, Nick restained our screened in porch and backyard deck (he clearly didn't get the memo I did that on Labor Day, you're supposed to do nothing)!

Adding trim and mulch to the playset with a tiny helper.

After several seasons of trying to get our backyard grass to grow consistently, we decided to tear it up and re-sod. A project that was to only take a few days, ended up taking a couple weeks due to rain and simple stupidity from the contractor. But, I'm happy to report, the backyard looks awesome. Now if only we'd let the kids play on it!

Having a real-life digger in our yard was beyond thrilling for these boys.

Helping clean from the dirty mess.

Interview with a 6 Year Old

Editor's Note: I've been trying for almost two months now to get a solid answer on any of these questions from our resident 6 year old. So, instead of pulling teeth, I'm answering these questions on his behalf. And quite frankly, I know this kid probably better than he knows himself most days!!

What is your favorite...?

Breakfast - Waffles
Lunch/Dinner - Mac and cheese
Fruit - Sliced bananas or orange slices (thanks to his recent soccer game half time snack)
Vegetable - None, but I can coax him into eating green beans most nights
Drink - Slushies
Toy - Legos
TV Show - Spongebob, Wild Kratts, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Dino Dan (this list can go on)
Song - Not so much a particular song, but will listen to any Luke Bryan one
Game - Domino Rally
Book - Fly Guy
Color - Blue
Sport - Soccer and Football
Subject in School - Recess

In my own words...

While Max loves to run around and be crazy with friends and his siblings, he also will sit for hours creating legos, building structures out of anything, or use the iPad to draw different football team helmets! He is very creative, studious, stubborn, argumentative but has a belly laugh and smile like no other. He's our left-handed writer who can now tie his shoes, swim underwater, take his own shower, read and write beautifully (seriously he has better hand writing than Nick), and use the remote control (stellar skill to acquire) on his own. Thank you, Max for challenging us daily and making us two very proud parents.

Six Year Stats: Height - 46 1/4" and Weight - 47 lbs

A Few Random

Hard to believe September is almost over. Fall arrived with a bang. Cold, wet and windy weather welcomed its way into South Carolina this week. Fortunately, it looks like sunny and warmer temps are making its way back (thank goodness)!

The kids wishing Aunt Kelly a Happy Birthday.

I was beyond thrilled to have completed my first 10K a couple weekends ago.

A few girlfriends and me escaped to Myrtle Beach this past weekend for a quick getaway. Dinner, drinks, lots of girl talk and spa time were all I needed for a fun trip.

And a little photo booth fun. Five grown women in one of these was NOT a good idea.

Max was stuck at home sick earlier this week with a low fever and cold. Even though he was bored to death, it was fun to have some one-on-one time with him (very rare these days). This was us enjoying some fresh air on a scavengar hunt he concocted himself.

Our Life in Pictures

From end of summer fun at the pool, amusement parks and concerts to start of school and fall sports celebrations with ice cream, tea parties, meet the teacher and first days, we've had a busy August and September so far. Here is what we've been up to.
